As a church, we deeply desire to have our hearts broken by what breaks the heart of God. Without a doubt, what happened to George Floyd breaks the heart of God.
Racism, bigotry and prejudice are evil. Black lives matter to God. And we will not remain silent when we see injustice happening.
Micah 6:8 says, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
“Doing justice” means we are called to action. In humility, we ask God to bring racial healing and unity to our land. We pursue justice by responding to how God is asking us to bring healing and righteousness to our communities. Amos 5:24 powerfully states, “But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.” Let us not stay silent but be active agents of healing change.
